The next free spay day will be on Sunday, April 17th. As always, Miami Dade Animal Services needs volunteers to help with the event (check in/check out, running cats to and from mobile vet clinics, etc). The entire thing is run by vounteers so without your help these amazing events couldn't take place!! I will be working the 6am shift, and staying until my feral cats are ready to go home (around 3pm), and I encourage you all to help in any capacity you can!! You can also make reservations to sterilize up to 4 cats by calling: 305-805-1603
I would also just like to say, for the record, that MDAS is a wonderful organization, without whom I would not be able to sterilize my colony cats or the UM campus cats. They go above and beyond what is asked of them, all in the name of helping our voiceless furry friends! I know there is a lot of negative talk out there about MDAS and Dr. Pizano, but having worked with them directly I can honestly say that they are doing everything they can to help the animals. While we would all love to be a no-kill nation, without individuals being more responsible pet owners and caregivers for our feral friends, it just isn't possible. That is why TNR is so very, very important!!!! No animal is ever turned away and as a result over 37,000 dogs and cats are surrendered to Animal Services each year in South Florida... that number is simply unacceptable! Please help spread the TNR word, and come help us sterilize another few hundred cats this month!!!!!
From MDAS:
Hello Wonderful Volunteers!!!
It’s that time again! Our next spay/neuter event for free roaming cats will be on Sunday, April 17th. The event will take place at the Jorge Mas Canosa Youth Center located at 250 SW 114th Ave., Sweetwater, FL. This event is sponsored by Commissioner Jose “Pepe” Diaz. Would you be able to volunteer? This volunteer driven event cannot be successful without your help!!
We would need YOUR help to fill all available volunteer positions! Please let me know if you are available to volunteer and if so, what shift you can cover and what position you would prefer (Runner, Check-in etc).
The shifts will be split into:
- AM (6am- 1pm)
- PM (1pm – 7pm)
- ALL DAY
I hope you will be able to join us again. Please help spread the word!! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Thanks again!!
